Trees

Trees are cool. But they're even more cool right after that once-a-winter storm that leaves every minute branch coated with the thinnest layer of ice -- when the sun comes out, they truly glow. I couldn't resist whipping out my free Seattle Filmworks film and snapping a few shots. These are some of my favorites... I hope you like them.

A basic run-of-the-mill shot of the sun glinting off my hedge out front. No special filters.
A neat close-up of a low-lying maple branch with great icicles. Crosshatch filter.
Same idea as above, but different branch. Crosshatch filter.
High shot of maple branches. Blue filter to increase contrast and give false sky color.
Closeup of small spruce-type thing. No filters.
"Busy" shot through bush. Lots of bright sunlight. No filters.
Idea here was the berries completely encased in ice. Looks better on the actual photo.
Neighbor's maple, glowing with sun in cleft. Crosshatch filter. I like this effect.
More maple shot. More ice. Blue filter as before. More of cool effect.
Classic icicle/star shot. Crosshatch filter and possibly blue filter. I forget.
Wider maple shot. Same sun-in-branch effect. Crosshatch filter.
Another maple shot. Wider still. No filters. Good contrast.
